FE6P04QA Assignment 1 - Information required for Proposal : Management Dissertation, UOL UK

The assessment requires students to complete a written research report and submit on the Weblearn Turnitin System with a minimum of 4500 words. A Reflective Report comprising 500 words is also required. Accordingly, the total number of words should be minimum 5000. A maximum of 5,500 words will be allowed. 

The topic of the dissertation should be related to business or management. Students must use cognitive skills of analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and application. They must demonstrate research skills, and adopt a relevant research methodology, drawing on a range of sources, and employing different information search strategies, enabling them to arrive at valid and reliable research conclusions.

This will assess their ability to demonstrate written communications skills by applying theories and concepts to financial services organisations within the changing business environment. Summative feedback will be provided after the submission of the report.

 Abstract 

Concise summary of the dissertation. highlight main objectives and conclusion. Briefly give an account of the methodology and highlight the results.

 Introduction 

 This section should state the background, research question, and provide context in which the research took place (an explanation or justification of why the research is taking place).

Literature Review 

Contains the theoretical framework for the research Project. Must give reference to the literature, including scholarly journal articles, relevant to the research question investigated. Here you must proof you have understood what you have read, able to analyse, identify trends to highlight a gap in the research.

Methodology

Contains the methodological framework for the research project. Justification required for primary research, detail of method used to answer the research question is needed (e.g. inductive, deductive; theoretical framework, grounded theory; quantitative, qualitative; exploratory, experimental, observational, causal; survey, case study, sampling, etc.)

Data analysis and Results

Contains the analytical framework for the research project. Outcome of research are presented in a logical manner. Tables, charts etc. can be used, sample of interview/questionnaire included in appendices). 

Conclusions and Recommendations (10%)    

Contains the fully developed, well-conceptualised conclusions from the research and usually a bullet point list of the recommendations drawn from the Conclusions. Here you should not include new material. You must refer to your research question, explain how objectives have been met. Discussion on some limitations should be discussed. This should be followed by solutions to issues suggested and further research mentioned.

 Harvard referencing style should be used.
