As well as the advisory service provided to individuals and groups looking to start a business, ‘UpStarter’ Offers a service to new and existing small businesses on how they can best maximize the success of their products or services. After your contribution to the ‘UpStarter’ January newsletter, you have been asked by your line manager Peter Jones to produce a presentation that will go out to those existing businesses subscribed to the service, discussing the concept of the macro and microenvironments in which organizations operate and function. Your presentation will include;
Task:
You will choose an organization, one in which you are familiar with. This can be through either research or previous experience.
Firstly, you will introduce the idea of the macro environment, and using your chosen organization apply each component of the PESTLE (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental), Highlighting in the processes the positive and negative impacts that these external factors can have on an organisation. You will by the end of this process have produced a full PESTLE analysis with examples.
The second half of your presentation will focus on the microenvironment, after introducing the concept of the \microenvironment in business, you will produce a SWOT analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen organization and the opportunities and threats in which it is exposed to, at each stage, identifying how the various factors influence the decision-making process with examples. Using the Strengths and Weaknesses element of your SWOT analysis you will explain with examples how these factors can be impacted by changes to the external (macro) environment. (NB: Refer to your PESTLE analysis for this section).
