Figure 1 shows how the greenhouse gas emissions from some sectors have changed in the UK from 1998 to 2020. It does not include all sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the UK during this period, such as industrial processes.

The greenhouse gas emissions are measured in million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO2e). This unit is commonly used for large quantities of gas, such as carbon dioxide emissions.
